VILLAGE OF ELLENVILLE, ULSTER COUNTY, NY

PROPOSED LAW ON DISBURSEMENT OUT OF SPECIAL RESERVE FUND (“MOUNTAIN MONEY”)

PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that a public hearing will be held by the Board of Trustees of the Village of Ellenville on Monday, February 26, 2024 at the Ellenville Government Center, 2 Elting Court, Meeting Room, Ellenville, New York at 6:15 p.m. to discuss adoption of Local Law #1 of 2024.

This proposed local law will allow the disbursement out of the Village of Ellenville Special Reserve Fund, created in 1997 by virtue of adoption by the Legislature of the State of New York, to the General Fund in the amount of FIVE HUNDRED THOUSAND ($500,000.00) DOLLARS, which shall be used which shall be used to alleviate projected budget shortfalls for the 2024 fiscal year.

The Village of Ellenville, in accordance with the State Environmental Quality Review Act (“SEQRA”) will also hear public comments at the same date and time on the Village’s proposed resolution that said Local Law follows SEQRA and is not a Type 1 action.

It is the belief of the Village that this proposed local law is necessary given the current state of the projected budget for the 2024 fiscal year. If such a law is not passed, significant cuts will have to be made to the Village budget which shall affect the health and safety of Village residents. The proposed resolution is made in conformance with the terms and conditions of the Special Reserve Fund and shall be subject to a mandatory referendum if passed by the Board of Trustees.

At the hearing, the Village will open the floor to all members of the public who wish to weigh in on this proposed resolution.
